Still Frame: Webcomics, Vol. 1

I've been trying to do reviews for the webcomics that I've been following, but at this point I have well over 70. It's just not feasible anymore. So instead, I'll post about 5 new webcomics that I follow or have begun following, along with a snippet of what the comic is about, either from the site itself or by me. So, here's the first installment for ya. These guys are pretty out there, often recognizable by many simply by uttering the comic name.

xkcd |
"A webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language."
By Randall Munroe
Genre: Humor
Updates M, W, F

[The place where stick-figure artwork comes to shine. Munroe is as funny as he is intelligent, and considering his popularity, he has both in spades.]

Questionable Content |
" online comic strip that is ostensibly about romance, indie rock, little robots, and the problems people have."
By Jeph Jacques
Genre: Drama, Humor
Updates M-F
[Jacques has a tendency to be outright random in both his comics and his comments. You can't help but laugh with him. His art style is simplistic yet very detailed; he does these comics in a couple of hours the day before he posts. How awesome is that?]

Penny Arcade |
"Equal parts comics and commentary, Penny Arcade features Tycho and Gabe, the alter egos of creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins."
By Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins
Genre: Humor, Video Games
Updates M, W, F
[If you're a gamer, 9 times out of 10 you know of these guys already. Great strip-style gaming comedy mixed in with a funny blog, 2 conventions, charity, scholarships...Wow, and all of this stemming from good artwork on a webcomic?]

AppleGeeks |
Art by Mohammad Haque, written by Ananth Panagariya
Genre: Sci-Fi, Humor
Updates ~M, Th
[I'll be honest, I haven't kept up with this series. I really like the art style, though, and the writing is good even though I can't really judge too well since I'm behind on it. ...WINDOWS IS BETTER. Ok, got that off my chest.]

Ctrl+Alt+Del |
By Tim Buckley
Genre: Video Games, Humor, (Drama?)
Updates M, W, F
[Another very popular gaming comic, Buckley's given his comic an actual plot to follow. While he's gotten some flak for it, I think it's all for the better. He still does little stints outside continuity, and has a side comic as well.]
